Assignment 15A- Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 2

My product is a top coat nail polish. This top coat can go on any kind of nail polish (gel, regular, dip, etc.) and it will last 4 – 6 weeks without chipping. As of right now, I think most women stop/don’t get their nails done or they keep getting them done (spending more money and wasting time). For this assignment I interviewed three women on campus. The first interviewee said that when their nails chip, they end up taking all of the polish off of the other ones and do not get them done again. She said that she does not get them done again because she cannot find the time. For her it is important that her nails last a long time being that she is constantly busy. When I asked her whether she would buy this top coat online or in store she told me online. She said that she often shops on amazon for items she needs. With amazon, card is used. My second interviewee said that she has to get her nails done once they break or chip or else, she will bite her nails. She said that she picks the...

Assignment 14A- Halfway Reflection

One behavior that I used to keep up with the requirements of this course is time management. In this course, you have to be on top of your assignments and the due dates. There is something due every few days so you must always be aware of that. Another behavior that I use in this class is the use of sticky notes and a planner. I recently forgot to submit a url for an assignment and ended up losing 3 points. Now I have a little sticky note on my computer telling me to paste the url. As I said before, assignments are due every few days. I use a planner to keep myself organized. About a week ago I had my first business statistics test. I started studying five days before the exam and studied for about six hours each of those days. The day before the exam I realized I still had a lot of formulas to memorize. I became very stressed. Then I thought about the fact that the test would be over within 24 hours and that the class would be over in a little over two months. I knew I ha...

Assignment 13A- Reading Reflection No. 1

I read Grinding It Out: The Making of McDonald's by Ray Kroc. Something that surprised me the most while reading this book was that the McDonald brothers let Ray take over as much as he did and as quickly as he did it. If I had started a company like McDonald's, I do not think I would let someone take over almost the entire company. What I admired about Ray is that he kept pushing and going no matter what obstacle was thrown in his way. He did not let anything get him down. Although, I did not like how controlling Ray was at the beginning of his journey with McDonald. He was very pushy with all of the projects going on within McDonald's and wanted to have his way in all of it, even over the McDonald brothers. Ray did encounter a lot of adversity and failure. When he did encounter these obstacles, he pushed through and worked very hard until he was able to overcome them. Some of his failures affected him for months and even years, yet he did not stop working to...

Assignment 12A- Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

For this assignment, I chose a segment of college students. I interviewed three women who go to the nail salon to get their nails done. Each of them goes every two to three weeks.  When interviewing each woman, I asked questions about their salon-going habits. I asked questions about how often they get their nails done, how long it takes them to get to the salon, what services they get done at the salon, if their finger or toe nails ever chip, etc. I really learned a lot from these ladies while interviewing them. With each one being a college student, they sometimes have trouble finding the money to get their nails done, especially with how often they chip or become messed up. They all agreed that the frequency at which all nail polish chips is crazy. When I asked them if they would pay more to have a top coat put on their nails that would make the polish not chip and last longer, they all said that they would. This was good news. I asked these women why they get their nails done...

Assignment 11A- Idea Napkin No. 1

1.   Who you are. What your talents are. What your skills and experiences are. Also: what are your aspirations? Specifically regarding your business concept, how do you see this business (if you were to start it) playing a role in your life? ·     My name is Madison Burken. I just transferred to UF from Santa Fe and I’m a General Business major with a specialization in Event Management. I am talented in math. It has come easy to me since I was a child and I really enjoy doing calculations and working with numbers. I think this would come in handy when trying to start this business concept. I have worked at Hungry Howies for the past four years and have been able to develop my skills working in a team as well as customer service skills. I think this would also be very beneficial when starting this business as I would have to work with a team and work with potential customer. 2.   What are you offering to customers? Describe the product or service (in other w...
